What We Do

Retina Clinic is essentially an outpatient setup, geared for a full eye examination and investigations. Different procedures carried out include fundus photography, fluorescein and ICG angiography, B-scan ultrasound, OCT, Retinal lasers and Intravitreal Injections.

The surgical treatment is carried out at a dedicated state-of-art Ophthalmology facility setup at Manipal Hospital, Old Airport Road, Bangalore. Most surgeries are day care procedures and do not require overnight stay in the hospital. Surgical care needs a good physician and anaesthetist back up - hence the setting of the Ophthalmology operation facility in Bangalore’s leading multi speciality hospital provides a lot of safety and benefits

Our practice specialises in assessment and treatment of disease of the retina and uveitis cases.

Complete Eye Examination

This includes, vision check, intraocular pressure check, slit lamp examination of the front part of the eye and a dilated retinal examination.

Fundus Photography

This is a procedure where photographs are taken of the retina. This is useful for documenting changes seen in the retina which can then be followed up to look for any changes

Fluorescein & ICG Angiography

In some cases it is important to study the retina condition in more detail by performing a fluorescein and / or Indocyanine Green angiography. This procedure involves injecting a dye in the blood vessel in the arm followed by serial photographs of the retina to study the behaviour of the dye. This provides very useful information regarding the retina conditions and helps guide treatment

OCT - Optical Coherence Tomography

This is a common, non invasive and safe test done to study retinal conditions and provides very useful information of the underlying retinal disorders. It provides a cross section of the retina and helps us study the retina in greater details. The test takes just a few minutes to perform

B-Scan Ultrasound

Ultrasound examination of the eye is useful in cases where the back part of the eye is not clearly visible or in cases where we need to study the retinal condition in more details. It is a safe non invasive test

Retinal Lasers

Laser treatment is the standard of care for different retinal conditions. It is performed as an out patient procedure and depending on the retinal condition being treatment it may take anywhere between 10 to 30 minutes to perform.

Intravitreal Injections

Delivery of medicines into the eye by intravitreal Injections has revolutionised the way we treat many retinal conditions. This is a safe and painless procedure and is useful for different retinal conditions like diabetic retinopathy, age related macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion and others.
